Jamie Jones-Buchanan

We were very privileged to host JJB, Leeds Rhinos and international Rugby League footballer, actor and host of Rugby AM, and man of God, on Sunday 1st July. If you want to watch the interview just click the play button on the video below.

Oasis Church exists for our local community
and our heart is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ
by shining His light into this place.

Check out the video below to get an idea of some of the things we do.

So you're thinking about going to church

Maybe you're just curious about Christianity, or you are seeking the Lord
for the first time. Maybe you have recently moved into the area and
you're looking for a place to worship, or you're looking to re-commit
yourself to the Lord.

Whatever your reason for wanting to come to church, the first time
can feel very daunting. We have put together a few FAQ to try and make
your first visit as comfortable as possible

Our address is:  Oasis Church, 10a Exchange Street, South Elmsall, Pontefract, WF9 4BQ

                             Telephone: 01977 648 394

We are next door to Home Bargains, on the side road that leads into the council car park.

Our doors open at 9: 45 on Sunday Mornings and we have a 10 Minute prayer time at 10:00 am, So if you want to arrive early and join us in praying for the meeting, anytime before 10. Our main service starts at 10: 30, so if you want to come for that then any time between 10:15 and 10: 30. Don't worry if you are late, just join in when you arrive.

If you drive past the church you will enter a large council car park. Parking is free all day on Sundays.

We are a very friendly bunch at Oasis, and you can expect a warm welcome to you and your family. You will receive a welcome pack which includes a free bible, and shown to the main hall.

We give the notices at the beginning of the service, to make everyone aware of what's happening through the week, then we get down to praising the Lord. The bible encourages to sing and to make a joyful noise to God, and we do just that. This prepares us to receive the word of God, and we are strongly grounded in the bible. We are an Evangelical, Spirit-filled church and, while we don't encourage some of the excesses of some churches, we are very open to the move of the Spirit, so long as it agrees with and conforms to scripture.

We do have communion, but this does not happen every week, so that it does not become a cold tradition just done for the sake of it.

After the service we stay behind for fellowship as long as people want - and drink coffee! (Tea and cold drinks are also available).

We are led by the Spirit and we can't put a time limit on Him, but generally speaking around 90 minutes. But please don't rush off afterwards, we stay behind for fellowship and have tea or coffee (we have freshly ground coffee by the way) and usually cake and/or biscuits.

Clothes! Seriously though, come as you are. We have no set requirements, although perhaps best to leave bikinis/speedos for the beach 😉

Absolutely! we are very family-friendly and welcome children. The kids stay with us for the praise and worship and then go for more age appropriate church.

We have a creche for toddlers up to 5 years old and our version of Sunday school - Camel Club, for children up to 12 years old.

Every second Sunday at 2 PM we have the OK Club (Oasis Kids Club). That's for all kids in the community up to 12 years old.

Our Children's leaders have had all their background checks done and are qualified to lead the groups.

The godly person

How to spot a godly person (based on Psalm 1) They are blessed by God. ‘Blessed is the man…’ He or she is blessed by God. They will know the prosperity of the Lord. This does not mean they will necessarily have a big bank account or that they will...
